Secure Children’s Homes

Staff managing challenging behaviour in a secure children’s home had been advised by an external inspector that they could no longer use some of the restraint skills that had been provided by their trainer as there were safety concerns. Dr Tony Bleetman was approached and worked with the training provider and with staff to review the physical interventions syllabus and successfully challenge the external inspector to retain one skill that had been challenged and to modify others that were considered safer alternatives.

The Children’s Home continue to report enhanced safety, increased staff satisfaction and confidence in the training syllabus.
